While there are some home improvement projects that you can probably handle on your own, there are also others that should definitely be left to the professionals. In our experience here at Snead’s Outdoor Services (SOS), anything involving demolition falls into the second category–and that goes double for commercial demolition projects. Of course, not every demolition company is equally qualified, so it’s important to do your research before you decide. In this article, our team will go over some key things to look for in a demolition company.
- Portfolio- A good demolition company will have a portfolio of recent projects for you to look at. The portfolio should include a written description of the project and its key details, as well as photos to document the results. In most cases, you should be able to find the company’s portfolio on their website, but in some instances, you may have to ask for it.
- Company Details- When choosing a contractor, you may encounter some people who are not attached to a larger demolition company. To make sure that you don’t hire a lone contractor by mistake, you should ask each person you interview to provide some basic information about the company they work for–its name, location, phone number, etc. If they can’t provide these details, they don’t really work for that organization, and therefore don’t have access to its resources.
- Timeline- Lastly, ask each demolition company you interview to provide a clear project timeline laying out when the work will begin, when each phase will be completed, and when the work will be finished for good.
